Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado rallied around the Department of Health’s (DoH’s) theme “Isulong ang Breastfeeding: Tama, Sapat at EKslusibo (TSEK)” for the occasion centered at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.
“We aim to uplift the awareness of all the sectors of the society particularly the Bulakenyo mothers about the importance of breastfeeding for the nutrition and development of each child. Aside from that, we also prepared various programs to assure the nourishment of Bulakenyo children,” said Alvarado.
Among the activities scheduled for this month-long celebration are forum and seminars such as the symposium dubbed as “Karangalan ng Kababaihan sa Programa ng Nutrisyon;” the training for “Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon” and “Mother Leaders;” the “Information Forum on Breastfeeding;” and the forum/discussion about the proper caring for cancer patients.
Moreover, there will be nutrition parades, food festival, information forum and cooking contest to be held in the different schools from the cities and municipalities province-wide.
In Pampanga, the Angeles City Nutrition Office (CNO) also launched the breastfeeding program and other advocacy activities.
The event started with a float parade participated by daycare students in different barangays of the city. Each participating daycare school presented nutrition themes as daycare students waved from floats decorated by vegetables and fruits.
Also following the theme TSEK, the campaign aims to arm parents, especially mothers of the importance and the benefits of breastfeeding.
